Lolita sizing does not map onto US dress sizes, and it varies between brands. The most reliable way to choose is not to measure yourself — it is to measure a dress you already own and like the fit of, then compare it to the numbers below.

How to use this page

1. Take a dress from your wardrobe that fits you the way you want this one to fit.
2. Lay it flat, without stretching it. Measure straight across the bust, then across the waist, then from the shoulder seam down to the hem.
3. Double the flat bust and waist figures — the tables below list full circumference.
4. Find the size whose numbers sit closest to your reference dress.

All measurements are manufacturer-supplied and taken flat, with the garment laid out rather than worn. If a measurement matters to your decision and it is not listed, ask us before you order.

What we do not list, and why

Other size charts fill every column. Ours has gaps, and we would rather explain them than guess:

• Upper arm and armhole — not provided in the manufacturer's specifications for any piece we carry. We are not going to estimate them from the shoulder measurement.
• Maximum stretched bust on shirred pieces — the shirring does stretch, but we have not measured how far, so we do not publish a figure.
• Shoulder and sleeve — supplied for blouses, not for most dresses. Where the cell shows —, the measurement was not in the source data.
• Hem width — the figures we were given are inconsistent enough that we are not confident what they measure, so we are not publishing them as fit information. If skirt fullness matters to you, ask and we will tell you what we know about the specific piece.
